ITS operates the only dedicated tape transcription center for the oil industry in Venezuela. The fact that ITS is not a seismic processing company has allowed us to focus our center and our software on tape transcription only.
Our own copying software (tpcopy) is used for trace-sequential seismic data and other short block types of data tapes (well log, navigation, etc.). Enersy's transcription software is used for demultiplexing of seismic field tapes.
For sticky tapes, we operate a large oven with a capacity for 300 tapes. Workhorse StorageTek 1950 series tape drives are used to read tapes that "modern" drives choke on.

- 4mm (DAT) and 8mm (Exabyte)

Over the past few years ITS has copied more than 300,000 tapes with seismic field and processed data to 3480 / 3590. We have reformated satellite imagery from 9 track tapes to CD's. For the apertura's ITS has copied more than 6000 exabytes.
Clients For the last five years we have been running a 24 hours per day operation for the complete library conversion of PDVSA's seismic tapes. We consistently receive an excellent score in the QC procedure, executed by the geophysics section of the Universidad Simon Bolivar for the PDVSA affiliates.
Other clients include Astra, APEX, Benton, BP, Elf, Maxus, Shell and Total.
